Carnation Breakfast Essentials from Costco is a rich milk chocolate flavored nutritional powder drink mix that you mix with skim milk (not included). I’ve never tried this product before but I do remember back when I was a kid, this was called Carnation Instant Breakfast. When prepared as directed with one cup of skim milk, it has as much protein as two large eggs, as much vitamin D as three 8 fl oz glasses of milk, as much calcium as three 5.3 oz cups of Greek yogurt, and as much vitamin C as one medium orange.
While Carnation Breakfast Essentials is traditionally mixed with skim milk, you can also mix it with plant-based milks like unsweetened almond milk or oat milk or use it in smoothies or pancake mixes. This flavor version is made from Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa! There are no artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners in Carnation Breakfast Essentials but there are 15g of sugar in each packet. For those with allergies, this does contain milk and soy ingredients and may contain wheat.
