While I was out of town recently, I stopped by a different Costco and spotted something new: the Kirkland Signature Fried Chicken and Waffles. Naturally, I had to give it a try—and at just under $20†, it felt like a pretty good deal.

Once I got home, I preheated the oven and got dinner going. After about 30 minutes, the chicken was baked and ready to go. I warmed up the waffles, then drizzled the included hot honey over the chicken and poured a bit of the organic maple syrup on the waffles.

The first bite of the breaded and battered chicken thigh was surprisingly good. It had a satisfying crunch on the outside while staying tender and juicy inside. That said, I wasn’t crazy about the seasoned flavor of the hot honey.

Then came the waffles… and unfortunately, they were way too sweet. Cloyingly so. Honestly, if Costco offered the chicken on its own, I’d be happy to buy it again. But the waffles? Definitely a pass.
