The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo is fast becoming a favorite book of mine. It’s not a book about cleaning your home, but rather a book about clearing out the unnecessary clutter and keeping your home organized and tidy. Some folks may find the book a bit wacky but if you understand the background and culture of the author, you’ll have a greater appreciation and insight for the KonMari Method of tidying up. It all comes down to, “Does this spark joy?”
I’ve started on the first two steps of getting rid of clothes and books that don’t “spark joy” and even though we have a very small home, I’ve already sent 12 bags to Goodwill. Although we don’t have a garage to keep a bunch of extra stuffed stored away, I have become a storage expert with packing away too much stuff in every nook and cranny. There are more steps to go but I already feel psychologically lighter and have a new sense of appreciation for my posessions.
Costco has The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up priced at $9.99, which is $7 off the retail price. While supplies last. You can snag a paperback or Kindle version cheaper at Amazon:
